Question

I'm probably going to call Delta on this, but I thought I'd see what the brilliant CDS minds can come up with.

Bob's physical therapy for the rotator cuff tear has advanced to "bench presses" -- meaning that he takes a 3' length of PVC and extends his arms as far as he can.

That's all well and good here at home and at the PT office, but he's going to have to pack something with him when he goes to Spain. Our thoughts are that PVC in a suitcase is going to look like a pipe bomb, and we'd really like to avoid an airport incident.

Like having CVG closed down because some <s>moron</s> highly trained baggage inspector freaks.

Any ideas? Jumper? I know that's not at all your field, but do you even speak to those folks?

GAE, you could allow him to TRAVel with just enough pocket change to procure a 3 Ft. length of PVC once he arrives at his destination.

If allowing him to TRAVel with money sets a risky precedent stick an old golf club or a fishing rod inside the tube (or to be true to his character, lot of women's undies), cap or tape up the ends, and check it separately from the suitcase. They'll understand completely...

My wife is a Physical Terrorist, like all the rest of them she loves inflicting pain. That's why I just suffer quietly with my increasing aches & pains...

Purchase a big-ass salami stick and have him use that.
